Ross Muir - NEW Scotland Watch Company Brand Ambassador

Updated: Aug 7, 2023

Dear Supporters,

One of the most challenging tasks for any start-up company is brainstorming marketing tactics to reach the hearts and minds of current and future followers. However it seems our SWC brand is slowly gaining some traction: out of the blue, we were approached by a Scottish sports personality endorsing our work.

We are therefore delighted to announce that Scottish professional snooker player and 2023 European Snooker Champion Ross Muir will be joining the Scotland Watch Company (SWC) family as Brand Ambassador. Ross, an avid watch enthusiast, approached us on the basis of the Saltire Collection designs and our links to Scotland.

Ross Muir turned professional in 2013 and made his first professional maximum break (a 147, or a one-four-seven) in 2016 during the qualifying round for the German Masters. He became the 126th player in the world ever to have achieved a maximum score during a tournament.

In 2018, despite reaching the last 16 in the European Masters, Ross unfortunately developed a health problem which meant he had to stop competing on the professional tour, loosing his ranking. During his recovery, he had to compete in the Challenge Tour, a series of professional non-ranking events now known as the Q Tour. He reached two semi-finals of the World Snooker Federation World Championships in Malta and the EBSA European Championship in Portugal. Earlier this year in 2023, fully recovered, he won the European Snooker Championship and regained his place on the professional world tour.

Receiving the news, Tomek, one of SWC’s co-founders and lead designer of the Saltire Collection said:

This is unbelievable, I am a snooker fan and always support Scottish players. I noticed Ross Muir in 2016 and I remember, the following year, biting my nails during an epic battle between Muir and Ronnie O’Sullivan, seven-time World Snooker Champion. Ronnie didn’t play at his best, but Ross was fantastic. Unfortunately, in the end the old master won. And now Ross is not only going to be our ambassador, but he also invited me to join him at one of his training sessions. How fabulous is this!

We are extremely proud that Ross Muir is going to be our ambassador wearing one of our Saltire collection watches numbered, as a good omen, 147. We look forward to having Ross on board to support us, and we will support him on in his snooker journey!

Returning to the production of the Saltire Collection.

We continue to progress every day with the production of the first batch of watches and are successfully solving challenges with finishing of the hand-painted enamel and aventurine stone dials. We believe that we are one of only a few watch producers who offer hand painted dials across an entire collection, which comes with a vast array of manufacturing difficulties to overcome. With each small victory, we are one step closer to having the Saltire on your wrist.

As usual, if you would like to reserve your own numbered Saltire, please reply to this email. We will get back to you shortly after.
